receive letters but not care packages until later.
Radio Broadcast: If anyone would like to sponsor a radio broadcast in memory of someone or in honor of a special occasion please contact Orv Corbin at 605-359-8330.
Spiritual Sponsors: Our recent high school graduates will soon be preparing for college or career and we are asking for sponsors to offer prayer support and encouragement to these students. Graduates from the class of 2017 and 2018 are posted in the library. Consider sponsoring a student in prayer through these years of transition from teen to young adult.
Family Camp: Please keep Mark & Diane Brockberg and family and Dustin & Joni Van Essen and
family in your prayers as they are at Family Camp at Inspiration Hills this weekend.
Prison Ministry: We were recently informed that on August 17 Cornerstone Prison Church will be
meeting in the chow hall instead of the chapel. We will still be attending but this is not the full experience of attending worship at Cornerstone and is very uncomfortable. Therefore, we are adding another Friday evening where we will be attending worship at Cornerstone. This will be on September 14 and you are welcome to attend one or both of the worship services. If you plan to attend on August 17 you need to have your clearance forms in by Wednesday, August 1. If you have any questions contact Jeff Snyder or Pastor Mark.
Bible for Missions Thrift Store: The store will be having their Fall change-over of summer items to
winter items on Monday and Tuesday, August 13 and 14. We invite all who are willing to help come one day. We plan to start at 9:00 a.m. and work until 3:00 p.m. Donuts and coffee will be furnished.
Ladies: It's time to start preparing for another season of Apples of Gold! Apples of Gold is building up marriages, mothers, and lives worldwide. It's not just a mentoring program, it's not just a cooking class...it's a nurturing, inter-generational connection that teaches women how to love their husbands, love their children, and how to practice submission, hospitality, kindness, and purity. A new season of AOG will be held September-November 2018. Meetings will be Mondays (9/17, 9/24, 10/8, 10/15, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12) from 4:30-7:30 at First CRC in Edgerton. There are six lessons and then a grand finale supper with spouses. The first hour is a cooking demonstration, the second hour is a Bible study, and the third hour we enjoy the meal that was prepared. If you have participated in AOG in the past, you know what a blessing it is! Please encourage/invite someone new to participate in the program. If you are interested in being involved, please contact Karen Fey (507-227-6392), Fay Van Essen (507-920-0729), or Ruth Kooiker (507-879-3373).
The MINN-IA-Kota retreat will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at First Reformed Church, Sioux Center, IA. There are registration forms on the back table in the narthex. The
pre-registration deadline is August 24.
Please mark your calendars! Mark Schultz is coming to Luverne on Wednesday, September 19th in concert at the American Reformed Church at 7:30pm. This would make a great youth outing! Tickets are available at the church office, at WildFlowers Coffee Boutique, and online at https://www.itickets.com/events/395155. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Proceeds will benefit the Luverne Child Guide Program and the Luverne Backpack Program. Doors open at 6:30 PM. I would highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance to ensure your youth group has seats.
