Reigning with Christ | Revelation 20:1-6 | 5 Devotions on the Victory of Christ’s Reign

In Revelation 20:1–6, John is shown two contrasting scenes — a bound enemy and a reigning King. The vision reminds us that the power of evil is restrained, not removed, and that Christ’s rule is already established at the Father’s right hand. When the world feels chaotic and uncertain, this passage gives steady confidence that the throne of heaven is occupied and that those united to Christ share in His reign.

These five devotions draw from that truth. Each day points us to the security, hope, and endurance that belong to those who know the risen and reigning King.

Day 1: The Leash in His Hand

📖 Scripture: Revelation 20:1–3; Luke 10:17–20

💡 Reflection: When Jesus sent out His disciples, they returned rejoicing that even demons were subject to His name. Jesus replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” That victory was not distant—it was unfolding even then. In Revelation 20, we see the same reality pictured symbolically: Satan is bound, restrained by divine authority. Evil is real and fierce, but it is not ultimate. The leash is in Christ’s hand. The world’s noise can make it seem like darkness rules, but behind it all stands a reigning Savior whose word is final. Nothing in heaven or on earth moves beyond His sovereign will.

🙏 Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that evil does not rule unchecked. You have crushed the serpent and hold all things under Your authority. When fear rises, remind me that You reign. Help me rest in the assurance that the leash is in Your hand. Amen.

Day 2: The Reign of the King

📖 Scripture: Psalm 110:1–2; Ephesians 1:20–23

💡 Reflection: Christ’s reign is not a future appointment—it is a present reality. The Father has seated the Son at His right hand, far above all rule and power. Psalm 110 foretold this moment: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.” That promise has already begun to unfold. The King is enthroned. Our hope, therefore, is not in the next election, the next law, or the next season of calm. It rests in the unshakable truth that the throne of heaven is occupied, and the One seated there intercedes for His people even now.

🙏 Prayer: Risen and reigning Christ, thank You that Your kingdom is sure and unshakable. Give me eyes to see Your rule in my life and courage to live faithfully under Your reign. Help me remember that You are not waiting to be King—you are King. Amen.

Day 3: The Saints Who Reign with Him

📖 Scripture: Revelation 20:4–6; Ephesians 2:4–7

💡 Reflection: John’s vision of thrones and reigning saints is a picture of the church’s victory through union with Christ. Those who have gone before us in faith are not lost—they live and reign with Him. And even now, we share in that reign. Paul reminds us that God “raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly places.” That’s not poetic exaggeration; it’s spiritual reality. Our lives are hidden with Christ in God. Though our circumstances may look ordinary or even hard, our position is royal.

🙏 Prayer: Lord, thank You that You have raised me up with Christ and given me a share in His reign. When I am weary or discouraged, lift my eyes to see that my life is secure with You. Teach me to live as one who belongs to the King. Amen.

Day 4: Faithfulness in a Chaotic World

📖 Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:58; Philippians 2:14–16

💡 Reflection: The world around us often feels out of control—angry, divided, and hostile to truth. Yet Revelation 20 reminds us that chaos does not dethrone Christ. The call to the church is not panic but perseverance. “Be steadfast, immovable,” Paul writes, “always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” Every act of faithfulness—every prayer, every act of love, every quiet obedience—is a declaration that Jesus reigns and the gospel endures.

🙏 Prayer: Sovereign God, when the world feels unsteady, make me steadfast. Let my words, my work, and my worship testify that Christ reigns. Keep me from fear, fill me with peace, and make my life a faithful witness to Your rule. Amen.

Day 5: The Coming Glory of the King

📖 Scripture: Philippians 2:9–11; Revelation 22:1–5

💡 Reflection: The King who reigns now will one day be seen by every eye. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The victory that is presently hidden will be fully revealed. Those who now live by faith will live by sight, reigning with Him forever. Until that day, we rest in the assurance that His throne is occupied and His kingdom cannot fail. The bound enemy will be silenced forever, and the reign of Christ will be seen in its fullness.

🙏 Prayer: Lord Jesus, we long for the day when Your reign will be visible to all creation. Keep my heart faithful until You come. Let my life reflect the hope of Your kingdom and the joy of Your coming glory. Amen.
