Consider Your Ways | Haggai 1:1-11 | This Week’s Devotions
Jesus talks about treasure, worry, and priorities in the same breath, and that's not an accident. He says you can't serve two masters. You'll end up loving one and despising the other. Then he moves straight into worry about food and clothing, the everyday stuff that eats up most of our attention.
Consider Your Ways | Haggai 1:1-11 | Consider Your Ways
It’s easy to stay busy with the wrong things. Most of us don’t decide to neglect what matters most. We just keep choosing what’s comfortable and putting off what’s hard, until years have gone by.
That’s where God’s people were when the prophet Haggai showed up in 520 BC. They had come home from exile and started rebuilding the temple, but the work had sat untouched for sixteen years. Meanwhile, they had built themselves nice homes. Then came a pointed question from God and a call to stop and think: consider your ways.
